Road Trip

Beautiful roads where one can go at 100 kmph, without worry, without tension, without fear.... That's all. 230 kms in four and a half hours, which included a break btw.

NH4 is turning out to be an excellent highway after all. I half expected the highway to be problem free after the recent floods, but barring few potholes on some stretches, it was smooth sailing all the way.

The economics also turn out to be favorable. Firstly, one saves atleast 20-30% of time, and for businesses time is money I guess. Secondly, I am sure that the mileage would definitely increase. Assume that for every 100-150 km, one saves a litre of petrol. Won't mind paying toll of 20-30 Rs then. And with crude oil prices rocketing, the economics will look still rosier. Toll collection would also ensure maintenance of the roads.

Now if they just put up proper sign boards......

Penguin 1 Win 0

The gateway in my department has been shifted from Win to Linux. The documentation with windows is patheric, configuring the routes is a hellish job (I couldn't find good info on the web too). Too much traffic was being dumped on the backbone and from the backbone onto the network. This resulted in problems with existing Novell Servers.

With the Tux server in place, all problems have been solved. Network traffic has gone down 70%.
